Nestled in the heart of Augusta, the Augusta Dream Center stands as a symbol of compassion and empowerment for its community. More than just a resource, the Dream Center serves as a lifeline for individuals and families facing hardship—meeting basic needs and fostering hope where it's needed most.
Founded out of a desire to support neighbors in crisis, the Dream Center strives to treat every person with dignity and respect. Its mission is clear: provide practical help while encouraging lasting change. With every bag of groceries or warm winter coat, the Dream Center works to spread a sense of worth.
"When someone walks through our doors, we
want them to feel seen—not just helped," said Hallie Kohan, Assistant Director
at the Augusta Dream Center. "Every meal, every coat, every handshake is a
reminder that they matter."

A cornerstone of the Dream Center's
outreach is its food pantry and clothing closet, which lighten the load for
families struggling to make ends meet. Through steady food distribution and
providing new or gently used clothing, the center ensures parents can send
children to school with confidence and sit down to a meal without fear. For
many, these moments of kindness bring relief and a renewed sense of hope.
Beyond meeting basic needs, the Augusta Dream Center invests in the future through its beloved basketball camp. This program isn't just about athletic skill—it's about growth. Young participants learn teamwork, discipline, and self-confidence.

Through the basketball program, teens
find encouragement, build friendships, and ultimately grow to contribute to the
community. Many have returned to the Dream Center as a mentor, eager to give
back.
Every spring, the Dream Center brings joy
to high school girls with Cinderella Day, a celebration that invites young
women to experience prom magic, regardless of financial means. Volunteers
donate time and gifts—dresses, jewelry, hairstyling—so every participant feels
cherished.
It's a day that blends celebration with
confidence-building, forged by the generous spirit of the community.
At its core, the Augusta Dream Center is
about more than service. It's about walking alongside neighbors, empowering
every person to realize their potential and feel the strength of community
support.
"The Dream Center is built on the belief
that hope is contagious," said Hallie, who lists volunteers, donors and people
returning to give back as the true strengths of the Center. "When one person
finds strength, it ripples through families, neighborhoods, and the entire
community."
